چکیده
Mountain insect biodiversity is unique, but menaced by different drivers, particularly climate and land-use changes. In mainland Portugal, the highest mountain - Serra da Estrela one of most important hotspots, being classified as Natural Park since 1976. Many lepidopteran odonate species, including rare protected are known to occur in Estrela, basic knowledge on their abundance, distribution ecology still lacking. Standardised sampling these communities crucial provide valuable biological information support short-term decision-making for conservation management, setting simultaneously standards monitoring aiming tackle effects environmental change long-term. This study reports novel species diversity, abundance from (Portugal). Seventy-two 26 were sampled this area, first findings Apatura ilia (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775), Macromia splendens (Pictet, 1843) Vanessa virginiensis (Drury, 1773). New populations Euphydrias aurinia (Rottemburg, 1775) Oxygastra curtisii (Dale, 1834), under Habitats Directive, found ecological data collected several subspecies [e.g. Aeshna juncea (Linnaeus, 1758), Coenonympha glycerion iphioides Staudinger, 1870, Cyaniris semiargus Sympetrum flaveolum 1758)]. All using standardised allowing its use a baseline Estrela.

Extended-spectrum beta-lactamase-containing Escherichia coli isolates were detected in 32 of 119 fecal samples (26.9%) from birds of prey at Serra da Estrela, and these isolates contained the following beta-lactamases: CTX-M-1 (n = 13), CTX-M-1 plus TEM-1 (n = 14), CTX-M-1 plus TEM-20 (n = 1), SHV-5 (n = 1), SHV-5 plus TEM-1 (n = 2), and TEM-20 (n = 1).

A new species of the genus Domene Fauvel, 1873-D. viriatoi n. sp.-is described from a granitic natural cavity in Serra da Estrela, Portugal. This subterranean species is diagnosed and compared with closely related species from the Iberian endemic subgenus Lathromene Koch, 1938. The external morphology and male genitalia are illustrated and information on the species` ecology is presented. A dic...
متن کاملBasil as functional and preserving ingredient in "Serra da Estrela" cheese.
Antitumor, antimicrobial and antioxidant activities of basil were studied, along with its characterization in phenolic compounds, organic acids and soluble sugars. The results placed basil as a valuable candidate for functionalization and conservation of food products, maintaining their nutritional properties, while increasing their shelf life and potential health effects. The basil leaves were...

Four batches of Serra da Estrela cheese originating from as many dairy farms were sampled throughout the ripening period, and assayed for the evolution of free amino acid (FAA) content, total nitrogen content (TN), water-soluble nitrogen content (WSN), trichloroacetic acid-soluble nitrogen content (TCASN) and phosphotungstic acid-soluble nitrogen content (PTASN). The WSN content increased from ...

The Brazilian mountain ranges from the Guiana Shield highlands are largely unexplored, with an understudied herpetofauna. Here the amphibian and reptile species diversity of the remote Serra da Mocidade mountain range, located in extreme northern Brazil, is reported upon, and biogeographical affinities and taxonomic highlights are discussed. A 22-days expedition to this mountain range was under...
